A high-stakes operation by Uttar Pradesh STF has shattered a cheating empire targeting UP Board high school and intermediate exams. At the heart of the scandal was Maharaja Singh Memorial Inter College in Mainpuri, where teams swooped in to arrest six perpetrators red-handed.
Those in custody comprise management figure Ashish, educators Arun Kumar aka Tinku and Anoop Kumar, plus solvers Shiv Chauhan, Avneet, and Abhijeet Singh. The scheme’s architects—principal Amrish and brother Ashish—allegedly mobilized teachers and outsiders to aid mass copying through solved papers and oral assistance.
For a fee of approximately 5,000 rupees per paper, students accessed this underground service, where solvers penned answers and staff overlooked or abetted the fraud. Such practices undermine merit and erode public trust in the board’s certification.
The raid yielded damning evidence: duplicate answer booklets, subject-specific papers and books for intermediate math and biology, six mobiles, and assorted banned items. Forensics and further interrogations are set to unravel the full extent of involvement.
With investigations continuing, the STF is tracing financial trails and other connections. This case amplifies the need for robust anti-cheating measures, including randomized invigilation and digital answer submissions.
Stakeholders in education are urging immediate reforms to prevent recurrence, ensuring that UP Board’s exams remain a true test of knowledge rather than a marketplace for grades.
