Delhi Police’s Jyoti Nagar outpost turned the tables on temple thieves, solving a brazen Shiv Mandir robbery in mere 24 hours. The main culprit and his fence were arrested, leading to the full recovery of pilfered artifacts and cash.
Reports reached the station on February 24, 2026, detailing the crime at Meet Nagar’s Shiv temple. Veteran priest Ashok Dikshit, 75, explained securing the site on February 23 evening. Dawn revealed a forced entry, with devotional items and money gone.
Invoking Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita provisions, an FIR kicked off a high-intensity investigation under Inspector Ved Prakash. Clues from the site guided officers to Harbir alias Kala Baccha, 27, whose interrogation yielded a full confession.
Following his directions, police swooped on Dilshad, 37, in Nand Nagri, seizing the complete stolen cache. Harbir’s rap sheet is notorious: seven cases linked to theft, excise laws, and narcotics.
Interrogations persist with both in custody. This efficient operation not only restores the temple’s treasures but also deters similar offenses, reaffirming police vigilance in protecting cultural and religious landmarks.
