Tejashwi Yadav of the RJD is initiating the ‘Bihar Adhikar Yatra’ on Tuesday, starting in Jehanabad. The yatra is planned to cover multiple districts, including Nalanda, Begusarai, Patna, Khagaria, and Samastipur, with its conclusion set for September 20th in Vaishali. Notably, Yadav’s constituency of Raghopur and Mahua, previously represented by Tej Pratap Yadav, are both located in Vaishali. Tej Pratap is reportedly contemplating a return to the political arena and may contest from his previous constituency.
The inaugural phase of the ‘Bihar Adhikar Yatra’ is slated for five days, from September 16th to 20th. This phase will include visits to several districts, such as Nalanda, CM Nitish Kumar’s home district, and Begusarai, the constituency of Union Minister Giriraj Singh. The itinerary also includes Patna, Khagaria, Madhepura, Supaul, Saharsa, and Samastipur. In a social media video, Yadav invited people to join the yatra, emphasizing that it aims to create employment, ensure women’s safety, and foster Bihar’s prosperity.
Reports from NDA sources suggest that the decision to launch the ‘Bihar Adhikar Yatra’ was influenced by the fact that Rahul Gandhi did not name Tejashwi Yadav as the chief ministerial candidate during the recent ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra.’ Sanjay Yadav, a close aide of Yadav and a Rajya Sabha member, commented that while the ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ focused on voter list corrections, the ‘Bihar Adhikar Yatra’ will be a chance for Yadav to connect directly with the public, a skill for which he is well-known.
