A government school teacher in Telangana’s Vikarabad district was suspended after she brought an animal brain to class on June 24 to teach anatomy. A case has been filed against the teacher. Students reported the teacher possibly identified the brain as a crow’s, but the police are still working to confirm the animal species. The case has been registered under the Cow Slaughter Act. Following the incident, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) protested, alleging the act hurt religious sensibilities. The education officials then suspended the teacher. Separately, in Kerala, three migrant workers from West Bengal died after a building collapsed near Kodakara, Thrissur. The state’s Labour Commissioner has been directed to investigate.
