Telangana’s Ambitious 2026-27 Budget at ₹3.24 Lakh Crore

Friday marked a milestone in Hyderabad’s assembly hall where Finance Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, holding Deputy CM reins, laid out Telangana’s 2026-27 budget totaling ₹3.24 lakh crore. This pivotal third budget from the Congress era eyes rapid, equitable growth.

Expenditure totals ₹3,24,234 crore—revenue ₹2,34,406 crore, capital ₹47,267 crore—surpassing prior ₹3.04 lakh crore, strategically plotted for dynamic advancement.

Boasting 10.7% GSDP growth (vs. India’s 8%), Telangana’s economy hit ₹17,82,198 crore, contributing 5% nationally. Defying trends—India down to 8%—state upped to 10.7% from 10.6%.

Per capita at ₹4,18,931 (10.2% growth) trumps national ₹2,19,575 (6.9%) by ₹1,99,356, elevating citizen wealth.

Long-term: $1 trillion by 2034, $3 trillion by 2047 from $200 billion base, powered by targeted schemes. Priorities span farm welfare, female empowerment, employment avenues, skill development, health services, school nutrition, infrastructure leaps.

On fiscal fixes, Vikramarka criticized past borrowings; restructured ₹25,612 crore debt lowers rates, extends to 39 years. Liabilities fall from ₹34,058 crore to ₹11,915 crore (2025-32), yielding ₹22,142 crore relief for stability.
