Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan, on International Women’s Day, celebrated Tripura’s self-help group women as the quiet builders of rural development at Agartala’s International Trade and Fair Centre. His dialogue with them highlighted their indispensable contributions and governmental support for empowerment.

Over the past decade of PM Modi’s leadership, India has pivoted to women-led growth, with SHGs serving as catalysts for socio-economic change. These collectives empower women with self-assurance and active roles in national advancement.

The ‘Lakhpati Didi’ scheme boasts 10 crore participants, 2 crore-plus already lakhpatis. Radhakrishnan commended Tripura’s stretch goal of 1.35 lakh, exemplifying swift strides in female entrepreneurship.

Forward-thinking efforts like ‘Namo Drone Didi’ upskill women in drone handling, modernizing rural practices. PMAY, Jal Jeevan, and Ujjwala have prioritized women, yielding significant lifestyle enhancements.

He envisioned Lakhpati Didis scaling to Crorepati levels, driving wealth creation and economic resilience. Echoing a timeless truth: ‘Strong women forge strong families; strong families build invincible nations.’

The VP explored stalls brimming with SHG creations—handicrafts, farm-fresh foods, handlooms—praising the women’s ingenuity. Joining him were Tripura’s Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu, CM Manik Saha, politicians, officials, and SHG members in large numbers.
