The NIA has arrested two Kashmiri locals, Parvaiz Ahmad Jothar and Bashir Ahmad Jothar, in connection with the Pahalgam terror attack, which resulted in the killing of 26 tourists. The arrests, made on June 22, 2025, mark a key development in the investigation. The arrested individuals are accused of supporting three Pakistani terrorists associated with Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). It is alleged that they provided the terrorists with shelter, food, and other necessities at a temporary hut in Hill Park before the attack, which targeted victims based on their religious affiliation. The two were arrested under Section 19 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967. The NIA is continuing the investigation, registered as RC-02/2025/NIA/JMU, following the attack on April 22, which shook the nation.
