UP to drop over 10,000 instances linked to Covid protocol violation

The Uttar Pradesh authorities has determined to withdraw instances lodged for violating Covid protocols below the Epidemic Diseases Act in the course of the lockdown.

An announcement issued by the federal government mentioned the Law Ministry has issued instructions to officers to drop the instances and that the FIRs triggered pointless hassle to “common people”.

Law Minister Brajesh Pathak instructed The Indian Express mentioned instances shall be dropped towards merchants, however migrant employees and others also can submit an utility to hunt the reduction. “Based on the report from concerned District Magistrates (DM), their cases would also be dropped. There are more than 10,000 such cases against traders in the state, mainly under section 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) of the IPC and the Epidemic Diseases Act,” the minister added.
