Gujarat Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi provided an update on the Air India plane crash, stating that 125 DNA samples of the victims have been successfully matched, with 124 families contacted. The remains of 83 individuals have been returned to their families. The Minister visited the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) in Gandhinagar, where the DNA testing process is being conducted by teams from the FSL and the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU). Sanghavi commended the continuous efforts of the teams working tirelessly. By late evening, 131 DNA matches had been finalized, and additional certificates were slated to be sent to the Civil Hospital. Senior police and FSL officials have been overseeing the identification process. Teams worked diligently for three days to match DNA samples and facilitate the prompt return of remains to the grieving families. The Gujarat government has collaborated with the Civil Hospital to ensure smooth and effective communication with the families. Dr. Rakesh Joshi, Superintendent of Ahmedabad Civil Hospital, reported that DNA verification is complete for 119 individuals, with the remains of 14 more scheduled for handover the following morning. The London-bound Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner crashed shortly after takeoff from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport on June 12, resulting in the deaths of 241 people, including former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani.
