Law enforcement agencies scored a significant win as US authorities deported wanted Haryana criminal Sombeer Motta to India on February 10, courtesy of CBI’s Interpol intervention. MEA and MHA’s backing ensured the smooth execution of this cross-continental manhunt.
Accused in a murder case and illegal arms handling, Motta’s return allows Haryana Police to advance their probe. His capture abroad was the result of meticulous planning and global alerts.
Prompted by Haryana Police, CBI activated a Red Notice through Interpol on February 11, 2025, working closely with NCB Washington for surveillance and deportation.
These notices alert 190+ member countries, creating a worldwide dragnet for fugitives. India’s Interpol arm, managed by CBI via IndiaPol, has repatriated 150+ offenders recently, bolstering national security.
Echoing this, Haryana STF brought back Aman Kumar alias Aman Bhainswal from America in January. Leader of a crime ring in Sonipat, Rohtak, Jhajjar, and Delhi—with ten FIRs—Bhainswal used bogus documents to flee.
On June 20, 2024, he traveled to Kuwait on a fake passport, then to the US. Exposed in Gohana, cases were lodged under IJC and Passport Act; an LOC, RCN, and proclaimed offender status followed.
Such repatriations not only deliver justice but disrupt transnational crime. With enhanced international synergies, India’s pursuit of justice is more relentless than ever.
