NAINITAL: Police have booked over 700 unnamed people after a battle between two groups in a Haldwani locality over some namazis performing ‘wazu’ at a public space, an official talked about on Wednesday.

Tension broke out between the two communities in Bhotia Parav house of Haldwani on this district on Monday night time when some people belonging to Hindu organisations objected to Muslim non secular practices being held throughout the Awas Vikas colony.

Although namaz was being supplied within the dwelling of Advocate Zafar Siddique, objections had been raised over an open public plot shut by getting used for the ritual ‘wazu’ sooner than offering namaz.

Muslims perform `wazu’ or ritual ablution sooner than offering ‘namaz’.

Witnesses claimed that stress escalated when some members of a Hindu outfit gathered throughout the house and allegedly slapped Imam Shahid Hussain who was presiding over the collective namaz offering ceremony.

Hussain lodged a criticism with the police.

Later, Siddique, the proprietor of the house the place namaz was being supplied, moreover lodged a police criticism.

SHO Bhotia Parav Harendra Chaudhary reached the spot with the police drive and sealed the advocate’s property on discovering that it was an illegal improvement, officers talked about, together with the clashing sides had been delivered to the police station.

“We have booked 700-800 people under sections 147 (rioting), 332 (Voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty), 341 (Punishment for wrongful restraint), 353 (Assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty) and (mischief causing damage to the amount of fifty rupees) for blocking the highway, indulging in violence,” the SHO talked about.

A lady had earlier filed a criticism with the police, claiming that the empty plot in question was getting used for unauthorised non secular actions inflicting disturbance and “filth” in a public space.
