Tensions soared in West Bengal’s election saga as TMC MP Dola Sen presented damning video evidence to journalists, alleging the Election Commission unlocked strong rooms covertly during postal ballot operations. The May 1 revelation in Kolkata has intensified scrutiny on poll safeguards.

Sen stressed the footage’s legitimacy, sourced from EC-provided CCTV monitors outside the facilities. ‘It’s official—viewable by anyone. We only shared what’s on their screens,’ she asserted. Brushing off forgery allegations, she quipped, ‘Fake video means fake EC.’

Amid broader grievances—90 lakh voter deletions and 225 poll-related deaths—Sen zeroed in on procedural breaches. The incriminating clip, released by TMC, showed clear signs of intrusion: doors ajar, lights activated, and movements within sealed strong rooms.

Party hopefuls arrived promptly, joined by rivals, compelling EC clarifications that it was for postal ballots. Yet Sen probed deeper: ‘Sealed with consensus signatures—why tamper without advance word? A same-day 4 PM email enabled rushed access, denying others a chance.’

Deeming it a legal infraction, she justified TMC’s demonstrations and forthcoming court battles. Notably, Mamata Banerjee entered as candidate with agents, witnessing the scene. This clash underscores persistent accusations of EC bias, potentially altering narratives as votes are tallied.
