Rajkot, Gujarat, served as the site for the final farewell to former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani. The cremation ceremony was conducted with full state honors, attended by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, and other notable leaders. A 21-gun salute marked the last rites, which were held at the Ramnathpara crematorium. The procession, which commenced from Rupani’s residence, was meticulously managed by the Rajkot Police. Earlier, in Ahmedabad, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and other senior officials paid their respects at Ahmedabad Civil Hospital. Rupani’s mortal remains were kept there for public viewing. The family, including his wife Anjali Rupani, expressed profound grief. Rushabh Rupani, the son of Vijay Rupani, shared the family’s sorrow and highlighted his father’s legacy. He also extended gratitude to the authorities and those who provided support during the difficult time. Vijay Rupani was among the victims of the Air India plane crash near Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport. Vishwashkumar Ramesh, a British citizen of Indian origin, was the sole survivor of the crash and is currently receiving treatment.
