A woman in Maharashtra’s Sindhudurg district was filmed slapping a private bus driver after he purportedly sent her obscene videos and messages. The woman’s contact details were taken from a record of a ticket booking with a private travel company. The woman regularly used this bus service for travel between Kankavli and Mumbai. On September 16, the woman visited the company’s booking office near the Kankavli bus stand with another woman. She confronted the driver, displaying the messages on her phone, and then slapped him multiple times in public. The video of the incident, which subsequently went viral, depicted the confrontation, including the woman’s questions and expression of disapproval, asking why he sent the content and if he felt any shame for his actions.
