Telangana’s electoral preparations have hit high gear with the launch of Special Intensive Revision (SIR) groundwork. Chief Electoral Officer C. Sudarshan Reddy shared the update Thursday, pressing political parties to mobilize Booth Level Agents (BLAs) without delay.
In a direct appeal during a party representatives’ meeting, Reddy insisted on one BLA per polling station, preferably locals who can sync seamlessly with BLOs. This booth-level synergy is vital for upholding the gold standard of accuracy and openness in voter revisions.
SIR, running in 12 states now, will hit Telangana around April-May 2026 post-notification. Facing compressed timelines, the state has jumped into action with innovative mapping: a tabletop merge of 2025 rolls and 2002 SIR data, trailed by rigorous field audits.
BLOs are tasked with 3-4 visits per area – starting with form handouts and circling back for stragglers, especially in dense cities. Reddy clarified that overlooked voters in prep phases remain eligible to register during the main event.
Parties hold the key, Reddy emphasized. Swift BLA deployments will streamline coordination, slash grievances, and safeguard every qualified citizen’s voting rights. The session featured Additional CEO Vasa Venkateshwar Reddy, Deputy CRO Hari Singh, and more, forging a united front for electoral excellence.
