CHANDIGARH: The Chandigarh Police on Sunday used water cannon to forestall AAP employees from transferring in the direction of the BJP workplace right here as a part of their protest in opposition to the Centre over the Adani challenge.

Aam Aadmi Party employees, gathered from numerous elements of Punjab, needed to “gherao” the workplace of the Punjab BJP in Sector 37 right here to register their protest in opposition to the party-led central authorities.

Barricades have been put up and a heavy deployment of police was made to forestall the protesters from heading in the direction of the Punjab BJP workplace.

Police used a water cannon when AAP employees tried to power their approach in the direction of the BJP workplace, stated officers. Carrying social gathering flags, AAP employees shouted slogans in opposition to the BJP authorities over the Adani challenge.

AAP MLA from the Jalalabad constituency Jagdeep Kamboj slammed the BJP alleging that it has failed on all fronts.

Later, police detained a number of social gathering leaders and employees. Earlier chatting with reporters on the social gathering workplace, AAP chief Harchand Singh Barsat alleged that the Adani Group’s fortunes rose underneath the BJP rule.

Another AAP chief, Sunny Ahluwalia, stated the social gathering will proceed to lift its voice over this challenge.

Adani Group shares had taken a beating on the bourses after US-based activist short-seller Hindenburg Research made a litany of allegations, together with fraudulent transactions and share value manipulation, in opposition to the Gautam Adani-led group, which has dismissed the allegations as lies.

Opposition events have been demanding a joint parliamentary committee probe into the problem.
