Samajwadi Party stalwart ST Hasan reacted with disbelief to news of Bihar’s Nitish Kumar eyeing a Rajya Sabha berth. In candid remarks to the press from Moradabad, he probed the rationale: ‘This defies all logic – how is this possible?’
Hasan sees dark clouds over JDU. ‘They’re waking up to the fact their boat is about to capsize. BJP’s partnerships with regional parties always end in disaster for the juniors. Expect BJP to jump ship soon, leaving JDU stranded,’ he predicted.
Dismissing hype around Nishant Kumar’s possible Deputy CM role, Hasan quipped, ‘It’s overhyped. That post is essentially a figurehead, a mere rubber stamp without substance.’
Shifting gears to world events, Hasan condemned America’s conduct, citing the bombing of an Iranian vessel en route home with innocents on board. ‘Undoubtedly, the US is the planet’s top gangster, ruling by ‘might is right’ – unacceptable, yet the world bows,’ he charged.
Reflecting on history, he praised Iran’s solo support for India on Kashmir in 1994 against a united Islamic front backing Pakistan. ‘They gave us affordable oil in crisis; we ditched them for Israel when they needed solidarity.’ This betrayal stings, especially India’s inaction on child deaths in conflicts, contradicting its ‘one world family’ ethos.
Hasan appreciated Akhilesh Yadav voicing anguish over Iran’s turmoil and international law breaches, particularly Ayatollah Khamenei’s killing – a sorrow shared across Islam. ‘Outrage fuels protests, but passion mustn’t trump wisdom. Everyone’s heart aches; let’s not amplify wrong signals,’ he appealed.
