Why Zoho Founder Wants President’s Rule in Tamil Nadu Now
1 min readProminent entrepreneur Sridhar Vembu, co-founder of Zoho Corporation, shook up Tamil Nadu politics Thursday by advocating President’s Rule and immediate fresh elections. Posting on X, he dissected the post-poll chaos, insisting the state’s governance is on shaky ground.
With no outright winner in the 234-seat assembly, Vembu sees any prospective government as a house of cards. “Competing political pressures guarantee instability for whichever coalition forms,” he noted succinctly.
“Tamil Nadu deserves stability, not this mess,” Vembu emphasized, proposing a clean slate: Central intervention via President’s Rule, then polls policed rigorously against vote-buying.
“Impose President’s Rule, hold new elections enforcing strict ‘no cash for votes’ rules. True mandate will emerge,” his X thread read.
Vembu is bullish on TVK under Vijay’s leadership. “TVK would likely win big. DMK-AIADMK alliance is the only way to counter,” he opined.
For BJP, his message was clear: Go it alone. “Contest independently, win or lose zero – time for BJP’s Tamil Nadu reset. Let people vote afresh.”
Recent elections positioned TVK as a contender, missing majority by a whisker. Vembu’s stature as a self-made billionaire from Tenkasi adds credibility to his push for ethical politics.
This development raises big questions: Can President’s Rule stabilize TN? Will anti-corruption vows reshape voter behavior? As debates rage, Vembu’s words may catalyze change in India’s southern powerhouse.
