Yogi’s Cow Economy Model Puts UP on World Export Map

Uttar Pradesh is rewriting the rules of rural development by converting cow protection into a high-value global business. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s integrated approach has enabled the state to export indigenous cow products worth over ₹10 crore annually to more than ten countries, including the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Singapore, Dubai, and several European and Asian markets. At the heart of this transformation lies the Heta initiative in Ghaziabad. Founded by former tech professional Asim Rawat, the project maintains over 1,000 native cows and manufactures approximately 150 products ranging from A2 milk and traditional ghee to Ayurvedic medicines, organic foods, wellness items, and natural skincare. The model ensures that even aged cattle contribute meaningfully instead of being abandoned. Policy support from the Yogi government has been instrumental. Through the Dairy Master Plan and Operation-4, farmers receive subsidies covering up to 50 percent of costs for rearing indigenous breeds. The funding structure combines personal investment, bank financing, and substantial government grants, making large-scale adoption feasible. Breeds such as Sahiwal, Gir, Gangatiri, and Sindhi are receiving special attention for conservation and multiplication. As international orders increase, rural incomes are rising and Uttar Pradesh is emerging as a credible player in the global dairy and wellness market. The success story proves that protecting native cows can simultaneously preserve culture and generate sustainable economic growth.
