India will celebrate its 79th Independence Day on August 15, 2025, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi presiding over the events. He will hoist the national flag at the Red Fort in New Delhi and deliver his 12th consecutive address to the nation. The central focus of the celebrations is ‘Naya Bharat’, reflecting the government’s vision for a ‘Viksit Bharat’ by 2047.

Upon his arrival at the Red Fort, the Prime Minister will be greeted by key officials. The Defence Secretary will introduce Lieutenant General Bhavnish Kumar, GOC Delhi area, to the Prime Minister. The success of Operation Sindoor will be a key highlight, with the operation’s logo and themed floral arrangements at Gyanpath. The flag hoisting will be assisted by Flying Officer Rashika Sharma, followed by a flower petal shower from Indian Air Force Mi-17 helicopters. The aircraft will be piloted by Wing Commanders Vinay Poonia and Aditya Jaiswal.

Following the Prime Minister’s address, the National Anthem will be performed by NCC cadets and ‘My Bharat’ volunteers. Approximately 2,500 cadets and volunteers will assemble on Gyanpath, forming the ‘Naya Bharat’ logo. Around 5,000 special guests will be present at the Red Fort, including athletes from the Special Olympics 2025, international sports event winners, and outstanding farmers. Also attending will be beneficiaries of various government schemes and initiatives.

These include successful farmers, entrepreneurs, and students. In a bid to promote patriotism, band performances will take place across India on Independence Day evening. These performances will be conducted by bands from the Army, Navy, Air Force, and other forces at numerous locations. The government will highlight Operation Sindoor, launched on May 7 as a military response to the Pahalgam terror attack. The Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyan also aims to instill a sense of national pride.

The Ministry of Culture is promoting the fourth edition of the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign. Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat mentioned the registration of over 5 lakh youths to volunteer for the campaign. The campaign involves the active involvement of multiple organizations. The celebrations will culminate on August 15, 2025, with a unified display of the Tiranga, representing national pride.
