Winning a Test series in England is a major achievement for visiting teams, particularly those from the Indian subcontinent. India has toured England many times, seeking cricketing glory. Out of 19 series played on English soil, India has won only three.

In 1971, under Ajit Wadekar, India achieved its first Test series win in England. The series started with two draws, but the final Test at The Oval brought a win, leading to a 1-0 series victory. This win was a milestone for Indian cricket.

In 1986, under Kapil Dev, India won the series 2-0, winning the first Test at Lord’s and the second at Headingley. This was the first time India won more than one Test in a series in England, highlighting the team’s strength.

In 2007, under Rahul Dravid, India won its most recent Test series in England. Following a draw at Lord’s, India won the second Test at Trent Bridge, resulting in a 1-0 series victory. This victory was significant as it occurred after 31 years.

In 2025, with Shubman Gill as captain, Team India will play in England. The upcoming match is eagerly awaited. The question is whether India can win the series.
