In a dramatic turn of events at the Women’s World Cup 2025, Australia mounted the highest successful chase in WODI history to defeat India by three wickets. The Indian team had posted a competitive 330, driven by impressive batting from Pratika Rawal and Smriti Mandhana. However, Australia’s chase was masterfully orchestrated by Alyssa Healy’s brilliant 142 and Ellyse Perry’s steady 47 not out, ultimately reaching the target in Visakhapatnam.

Following the tough loss, Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur shared her assessment of the game. She felt that the team was short by 30-40 runs and that the final five overs were particularly costly. “Not batting well in the last six overs cost us,” Kaur stated, acknowledging the favorable batting conditions. She praised the openers for their sustained excellent performance in setting up large totals but pointed out the team’s struggle to maintain momentum in the middle overs across recent matches, with the lower order often stepping up. Looking ahead, Kaur emphasized the importance of a strong comeback and renewed intent in upcoming games. She also expressed unwavering faith in her bowling unit, specifically commending Charani for her consistent wicket-taking performances and resilience. Kaur affirmed that the team’s successful bowling combination would be maintained, reflecting a belief in their established strategy despite the recent defeat.
