A contaminated water supply in Indore’s Mahu locality has sparked concern, with nine people hospitalized due to related illnesses. Collector Shivam Verma made a late-night visit to the hospital Thursday, prioritizing patient welfare amid the crisis in Patti Bazaar and Chandar Marg.

Verma spoke to each admitted patient, reviewed their health status, and consulted physicians on ongoing therapies. The health department, fully mobilized under CMHO Dr. Madhav Hasani, is deploying expert squads from Indore Medical College.

MLA Usha Thakur’s presence added political weight, as she consoled affected families. Verma’s instructions were categorical—ensure ample medicines and facilities without compromise.

Targeting root causes, he ordered the Mahu Cantt Board to conduct water quality checks pronto and strengthen cleanliness drives. Community feedback was gathered during his visit.

All eyes are on tomorrow’s comprehensive health survey in vulnerable areas, promising swift care for anyone showing symptoms. No severe cases reported yet, and some patients may head home soon.

This incident highlights the perils of poor water management, but Indore’s response demonstrates resolve. The state machinery is actively overseeing progress to safeguard public well-being.
