Producer Rajan Shahi revealed that he received warnings against casting Khanna. Many people in the industry expressed concerns, saying that Khanna’s previous shows had not performed well. Despite these negative comments, Shahi decided to cast Khanna, and the actor went on to play a memorable character.
In an interview, Shahi shared that he was looking for an actor who could portray the complex nature of Anuj. When he found Khanna’s profile, he contacted him immediately. Shahi mentioned, “Several people, including some celebrities, told me that Gaurav’s shows did not do well, and he was unlucky. I feel bad when someone says that. I have heard similar things about myself, so it makes me angry.” He further added, “Everything has its own rhythm and destiny, and one person cannot be responsible for determining it.”
Shahi also said that Khanna was not asked to audition for the role. Instead, he was called for a look test and then selected. “Anuj’s character had a lot of confidence. Until Gaurav came, Rupali had taken Anupama to new heights, but Gaurav had the hunger to prove himself. He hadn’t done a serial for 6-7 years, so he gave his best in the show,” Shahi stated.
Gaurav Khanna received immense love for his portrayal of Anuj Kapadia. The love story of Anupama and Anuj gave the show a new dimension. After working for three years, Khanna decided to leave the show in 2024. He was later seen in Celebrity MasterChef and is currently participating in Salman Khan’s reality show, Bigg Boss 19, where he is trying to perform his best.
