English spinner Sophie Ecclestone is taking a temporary break from the sport. The bowler, who debuted on July 3, 2016, against Pakistan in a T20 match, boasts a record of 297 wickets in 177 matches across all formats. The decision to rest comes as a result of a quad injury, allowing her to focus on recovery.

According to head coach Charlotte Edwards, Ecclestone is dealing with a quad injury and will prioritize her recovery. She was previously rested during the West Indies series due to a knee injury. The spinner’s coach shared that she has been feeling some discomfort in recent weeks. While the exact duration of her time off the field is unclear, the team is providing support. The goal is to ensure Ecclestone’s fitness for the India series, which begins with five T20s and three ODIs starting June 28.

The T20 matches will be played on June 28, July 1, July 4, July 9, and July 12 in Nottingham, Bristol, The Oval, Manchester, and Birmingham. The ODI series is scheduled for July 16, 19, and 22 in Southampton, Lord’s, and Chester-le-Street.
