Bangladesh began their Asia Cup 2025 journey on a winning note, securing a victory against Hong Kong by seven wickets. A crucial element in Bangladesh’s win was a fast bowler, who made a significant impact. This fast bowler secured an important wicket, dealing a major blow to Hong Kong. The story of this right-arm fast bowler’s return is truly compelling. After being dropped from the team, he didn’t go home. Inspired by Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli, he made a remarkable comeback, playing a critical role in Bangladesh’s initial win in the Asia Cup.

    Tanzim Hasan Sakib’s Bowling Prowess

Against Hong Kong, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, a fast bowler for Bangladesh, showed his skills by taking two wickets while conceding only 21 runs in four overs, including one maiden. His performance included the dismissal of Hong Kong’s star batsman, Babar Hayat, who was bowled by Tanzim after scoring just 14 runs. The story of the right-arm fast bowler’s return is quite inspiring.

In an interview, he mentioned that he was once excluded from the Bangladesh Under-19 team. Instead of returning home, Tanzim dedicated himself to intensive training for four months.

    The Four-Month Transformation

He said, “I promised myself that I wouldn’t go home until I got selected again.” Tanzim spent roughly four months away from home. The 22-year-old player discussed how he drew inspiration from great players such as Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, and Mushfiqur Rahim.

He added, “Consider Sachin Tendulkar; he stayed away from his favorite foods until the end of his career. Virat Kohli did the same. Mushfiqur Bhai wasn’t tall, and he had limitations, but he never stopped working hard. This is what makes them great.” Tanzim said that he was inspired by these players, motivating him to work extremely hard. He is now one of the leading fast bowlers for Bangladesh.

Tanzim Hasan Sakib’s International Cricket Statistics

Since his international debut in 2023, Tanzim Hasan Sakib has consistently posed challenges to batsmen with his accurate bowling. He has played 31 T20I matches for Bangladesh, taking 38 wickets. Furthermore, he has 19 wickets in 13 ODI matches. In his single Test match appearance, he has one wicket.
