Bangladesh’s interim leadership is mobilizing for a critical referendum with a high-impact awareness blitz. From today until January 21, advisory council experts will fan out to districts, conducting outreach to highlight the plebiscite’s stakes and mechanics.

By dialoguing with local authorities, activists, and professional networks, the campaign seeks maximum engagement. It’s a strategic push to embed democratic participation at the grassroots level amid political transitions.

Thursday marked the start, with Local Government Advisor Adilur Rahman Khan anchoring efforts in Chittagong through a packed schedule of consultations and public addresses.

Shadows loom, however, as security briefings predict intensified minority persecution before polls. Jamaat-linked elements eye attacks to rally radicals, a tactic Indian intelligence flags as high-risk. While the Yunus team attributes violence to isolated feuds, evidence points to organized hate crimes, heightening tensions.
