Imtiaz Ali’s biographical film ‘Amar Singh Chamkila’, which garnered significant attention with two nominations at the 53rd International Emmy Awards, concluded its participation without securing any wins. Diljit Dosanjh, lauded for his portrayal of the legendary singer, was nominated for ‘Best Performance by an Actor’, while the film itself was in the running for ‘Best TV Movie/Mini-Series’. The ceremony in New York City saw the ‘Best TV Movie/Mini-Series’ award go to the UK’s ‘Lost Boys and Fairies’, narrowly beating out ‘Amar Singh Chamkila’ and other international nominees like Germany’s ‘Herrhausen: The Banker and the Bomb’ and Chile’s ‘Vencer o Morir’. In the individual acting category, Diljit Dosanjh’s competition included David Mitchell, Oriol Pla, and Diego Vasquez. The prestigious acting award was ultimately won by Spain’s Oriol Pla for his role. Both Diljit Dosanjh and Imtiaz Ali made a notable appearance on the International Emmys red carpet, with Dosanjh engaging photographers. Executives from Netflix India, such as Monika Shergill and Ruchikaa Kapoor Sheikh, were also present. Ali had previously articulated that the film explored the profound relationship between an artist and their creative passion, a connection that transcends logic and worldly gains.
