OpenAI is exploring ways to increase revenue, potentially including advertisements within its popular AI chatbot, ChatGPT. This move could result in users encountering ads, similar to the way ads are displayed on YouTube. In a recent interview, Nick Turley, head of ChatGPT, acknowledged that the company has not ruled out the possibility of integrating ads. OpenAI intends to proceed carefully and thoughtfully in the process. The introduction of ads raises concerns about user experience, potentially leading to user frustration, just like the ads on YouTube.

The company aims to deliver top-notch products. OpenAI’s executives highlighted the importance of careful consideration, noting that ChatGPT’s ability to provide quality answers tailored to individual needs is vital for its success. ChatGPT recently surpassed 700 million weekly users, but only 20 million are paying subscribers. A Bloomberg report suggested that OpenAI might generate around $12.7 billion in revenue this year through subscriptions, though the AI startup does not anticipate positive cash flow growth until 2029.
