Ishan Kishan, the Indian wicket-keeper batsman, is showcasing his skills in England’s County Championship. Playing for Nottinghamshire, Kishan scored 87 runs in his first innings against Yorkshire. This innings was marked by 12 fours and a six, achieved in 98 balls. Kishan is making his debut in the County Championship with a two-match contract.
He came in to bat with Nottinghamshire at 225/4, helping the team reach 283/6. Kishan and Liam Patterson-White built a 71-run partnership. Kishan was dismissed at 87 by George Hill off Dom Bess’s bowling, while aiming for a century.
Kishan was dropped from the Indian Test team after December 2023. He is hoping to reclaim his spot but faces tough competition. He has played two Tests, scoring 78 runs. His first-class record includes 58 matches, with 3447 runs at an average of 37.87, featuring eight centuries and 17 half-centuries.
Apart from Tests, Kishan is also not playing in the ODI and T20 formats for India. Rituraj Gaikwad, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Tilak Verma are also part of the County Championship, with Tilak representing Hampshire in this round.
