Finance Minister Dilip Jaiswal dropped a bombshell in Patna today: the forthcoming Bihar budget is tailor-made to actualize the long-cherished dream of a ‘Developed Bihar.’ His optimistic outlook has sparked widespread discussions on the state’s fiscal roadmap.

Delving into specifics, Jaiswal outlined a multi-pronged strategy addressing unemployment, which plagues over 40% of the workforce. Vocational training centers equipped with cutting-edge technology and partnerships with global firms are planned to upskill the youth.

Infrastructure warriors will rejoice at the proposed Rs. 50,000 crore allocation for highways and bridges, potentially slashing travel times and boosting trade. Flood mitigation measures, a perennial headache for Bihar, feature prominently with advanced embankment projects along major rivers.

The minister underscored digital Bihar’s role, promising high-speed internet to every village and e-governance portals for seamless public services. Tourism will get a facelift with heritage site restorations and eco-tourism circuits.

Critics point to past budget slippages, but Jaiswal countered with data on capital expenditure growth. With assembly elections looming, this budget is politically charged. Will it deliver inclusive growth, or remain another announcement? Bihar watches with bated breath.
