Yashasvi Jaiswal has addressed his exclusion from the Indian team for the upcoming Asia Cup 2025, emphasizing his focus on personal development. He stated that selection matters are handled by the selectors and that his primary concern is to perform to the best of his ability. The 22-year-old batsman highlighted his approach of concentrating on what he can influence and maintaining a strong work ethic. Jaiswal expressed his belief that he would be rewarded for his efforts when the opportunity arises. His ambition remains to help the team win the World Cup, drawing inspiration from the T20 World Cup win in 2024 and the welcome the team received in India. The squad announcement, led by Chairman Ajit Agarkar, generated discussion, particularly regarding the absence of Shreyas Iyer and Yashasvi Jaiswal, while Shubman Gill was selected and appointed vice-captain. Jaiswal has shown promising form in T20 cricket, accumulating 723 runs in 23 T20Is, averaging 36.15, with a strike rate of 164.31. His IPL 2025 performance included 559 runs in 14 matches, with a strike rate of 15.71.
