The Patna-Howrah Jan Shatabdi Express was the scene of significant disruption due to fire and smoke incidents. The train experienced a fire in its wheels at a railway station, which was subsequently brought under control. Despite this, smoke re-emerged from the wheels just 15 kilometers away, causing further alarm and leading to passengers evacuating the train.

The train was first affected at Rajla railway station where a wheel fire occurred. The train was held at the station for a period while the issue was addressed. However, the problem resurfaced between Rajla and Simultala railway stations, prompting the train to stop once more before reaching Simultala station. Passengers evacuated the train, concerned for their safety.

Railway staff indicated the issue was related to brake binding. Brake binding is a condition where the brakes do not fully release, leading to friction and potential overheating, which can cause smoke and, in some cases, fire.
