Ranchi: Jharkhand assembly elections will be held in the third week of October. The dates of the elections can be announced anytime after 10 September. With this, the model election code of conduct will come into force in the state. The Election Commission of India has indicated to the State Election Office that Jharkhand assembly elections will be held along with Haryana, Maharashtra and Jammu and Kashmir.

The term of Haryana Assembly ends on November 3, while the term of Maharashtra Assembly ends on November 27. Although the term of Jharkhand Assembly is till January 5, there is a strong possibility of holding elections together this time. In the year 2019, Haryana and Maharashtra assembly elections were held together, but Jharkhand assembly elections were held separately. The State Election Office has started preparing for elections in Jharkhand parallel to these three states.

The declaration is made 45 days before the polling

There is a rule to announce elections at least 45 days before the polling. Since the election process has to be completed in Haryana by 31 October, the time from 10 September to 15 September would be appropriate to give 45 days time. According to the Representation of Peoples Act, the Election Commission of India can hold elections anytime within six months of the stipulated time. In this context, the state government cannot create any obstacle. The term of Jharkhand Assembly will end on 5 January, so the state government cannot object to holding elections between 5 July and 5 January. We are ready for assembly elections: CEO Chief Electoral Officer K. Ravi Kumar said that work is being done as per the instructions of the Election Commission of India. We are ready for the assembly elections. Training work has started. In the last assembly elections, the final publication of the voter list was done in October, this time it will be completed in August itself. In such a situation, we are far ahead. After the final publication of the voter list, other remaining work of the election will also be completed. Election notification was issued on 6 November 2019: In 2019, the notification for the assembly elections was issued on 6 November. Elections were held in a total of five phases. Voting took place on 30 November, 7 December, 12 December, 16 December and 20 December. Counting of votes took place on 23 December.
