This distinction is attributed to the ongoing Ghatsila Assembly by-election, which led to exemptions for essential services and a deliberate exclusion of East Singhbhum from the 12-hour shutdown. Consequently, normal activities continued in areas like Ghatsila. In contrast, West Singhbhum experienced a complete halt, with deserted roads and closed businesses, showcasing the localized but potent effect of the BJP-called bandh in response to the tribal protest incident.
