A devastating incident at the CCL Karma Project in Ramgarh district, Jharkhand, resulted in the deaths of four individuals and injuries to six others due to a coal mine collapse. The accident occurred at the Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) Karma Project in Kuju, where villagers were engaged in illegal mining activities. The sudden collapse of a coal seam led to the fatalities and injuries. The injured have been taken to a hospital for treatment, and the condition of two is reported to be severe. The victims were involved in illegal coal theft when the tragedy occurred. The collapse of a section of the illegal mine trapped four individuals, resulting in their deaths. Upon receiving news of the accident, locals rushed to the scene and recovered three bodies. The deceased have been identified as Imtiaz, Rameswar Manjhi, Vakil Karmali, and Nirmal Munda.

The villagers are holding CCL management accountable for the incident, accusing them of negligence. They allege that the lack of proper safety measures, such as secure boundary walls or fencing, facilitated easy access to the mine. The villagers have also accused the management of violating DGMS (Directorate General of Mines Safety) regulations. The administration has initiated rescue and relief efforts following the tragic incident. JCB machines are being used to clear the debris and assist in rescue operations. As of now, four villagers have died due to the coal mine collapse, and reports indicate that more individuals may still be trapped.
