The Jharkhand High Court is closely monitoring the status of vacant positions within the state’s jails. During a hearing related to a public interest litigation, the court heard the state government’s stance on the issue. Chief Justice MS Ramachandra Rao and Justice Rajesh Shankar, presiding over the bench, have instructed the state government to file a status report regarding appointments to fill these vacancies. The court has asked about the steps taken. The next hearing is set for August 12. The state government previously informed that appointments were being made following the implementation of the model jail manual.
