The ordeal of 48 migrant laborers from Jharkhand, stranded in Tunisia due to a wage dispute and resource scarcity, has concluded with their safe return. The workers, residents of Bokaro, Hazaribagh, and Giridih, had been in distress for the past three months without receiving their rightful wages or sufficient sustenance. Social activist Sikandar Ali played a vital role in advocating for their release, supported by governmental actions and company engagement. Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s decisive directive led to the intervention of the state’s labor department, ensuring the safe passage of the workers back to Jharkhand. Plans are in motion to provide comprehensive support to the returned migrants and their families through state-sponsored schemes. These workers were recruited by PCL Prem Power Construction Limited and had been deprived of their income for an extended period, creating a critical situation. This successful repatriation demonstrates the government’s commitment to upholding the rights and ensuring the safety of its migrant workforce.
