The Union Home Ministry’s latest notification has brought cheers to Jharkhand Police as 12 of its members are set to be decorated with the President’s Police Medal and Police Medals on Republic Day 2026. Released on Sunday, the order praises their meritorious efforts in safeguarding the state from threats and maintaining harmony.

At the helm is DSP Sudhir Kumar, recipient of the elite President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service. Over years of service, he has demonstrated exceptional professionalism, managing critical responsibilities with poise and earning widespread departmental recognition for his integrity-driven approach.

Eleven others secure Police Medals for Meritorious Service, featuring senior leaders IG Anoop Birthare and IG Patel Mayur Kanaiyalal. Their strategic oversight has improved policing effectiveness, particularly in resolving high-profile and delicate matters with precision.

DSP Sanjay Kumar’s inclusion further bolsters the list. The dedicated constables honored include Krishna Kumar Kshetry, Arun Kumar Ojha, Marcus Sunwar, Jaydev Pradhan, Janet Margaret Lakra, Kumudini Kujur, Sufal Oria, and Mohammad Wasim Akhtar. These frontline warriors have excelled in law enforcement, crime prevention, and public welfare initiatives.

Jharkhand government and police brass celebrate this as a collective triumph, boosting morale across the force. The awards not only reward past valor but also set a benchmark for future endeavors, reinforcing the role of disciplined policing in nation-building as the Republic Day fervor builds.
