    A significant cold wave is intensifying across Jharkhand, prompting the Meteorological Department to issue an alert for Ranchi and 12 districts, effective December 26th. The cold conditions are expected to impact Palamu, Garhwa, Chatra, Gumla, Latehar, Lohardaga, Hazaribagh, Koderma, Khunti, Bokaro, and Ramgarh.

    December 25th saw a dramatic drop in temperatures, with Gumla recording the state’s lowest minimum at a sharp 4.0 degrees Celsius, making it the coldest region. The highest maximum temperature on the same day was noted in Chaibasa, reaching 27.4 degrees Celsius.

    Across the state, a considerable 12 districts registered minimum temperatures below the 10-degree Celsius threshold. Gumla experienced the extreme cold at 4.0°C, followed by Khunti at 6.0°C. Other low readings included Hazaribagh at 7.2°C, Pakur at 7.6°C, Simdega and Latehar at 7.9°C each, Deoghar and Daltonganj at 8.1°C, Lohardaga at 8.2°C, Seraikela at 8.8°C, Bokaro at 9.5°C, and Chaibasa at 9.6°C.

    Weather predictions indicate that Ranchi and its surrounding vicinities will endure minimum temperatures between seven and nine degrees Celsius from December 26th to December 29th. The maximum temperature is anticipated to remain near 22 degrees Celsius on December 26th and 27th, with minimums potentially reaching as low as seven degrees. December 28th might see a slight rise, with maximums around 23 degrees and minimums at eight degrees. By December 29th, the forecast anticipates maximums of 23 degrees and minimums of nine degrees Celsius.
