Jharkhand is witnessing a major infrastructure push with the launch of significant road projects by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on July 3rd. Gadkari inaugurated and laid the foundation for projects in Garhwa, collectively valued at ₹2460 crore. These projects are aimed at improving connectivity and fostering economic growth in the region.

A key element of the initiative is the completion of a 22.73-kilometer, 4-lane road on National Highway-39, connecting Shankha and Khajuri. This road, which cost ₹1129.48 crore, provides direct access between Palamu and Garhwa districts, and connects to the borders of Uttar Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. The road is expected to dramatically reduce travel time, cutting the journey from an hour to just 20 minutes.

In addition, Gadkari initiated the construction of a new road, which forms an essential part of the Raipur-Dhanbad Economic Corridor. The road will extend from the Chhattisgarh-Jharkhand border to Gumla. This development will bypass traffic from densely populated areas, improve road safety, and enhance trade, commerce, and tourism. It will also strengthen the region’s cultural significance.

During the event, Gadkari highlighted that the projects would create new job opportunities, facilitate market access for local businesses, and boost tourism. He emphasized the central government’s dedication to transforming Jharkhand into a developed state. The event was attended by state ministers and local representatives.

Further enhancing Jharkhand’s infrastructure, the Ratu Road Elevated Corridor in Ranchi is among the upcoming projects. The total investment in these projects is over ₹6300 crore, highlighting the government’s commitment to improving the state’s road infrastructure. The Shankha-Khajuri 4-lane road and the Raipur-Dhanbad Economic Corridor are expected to play a crucial role in the economic and social progress of the state, driving Jharkhand towards a new era of growth.
