Following the death of singer Jubin Garg in Singapore, his family has raised concerns and initiated legal action. The official cause of death is drowning, which occurred on September 19, 2025. However, the family suspects potential foul play and has filed a complaint with the Assam Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

The online complaint was submitted by Garg’s wife, Garima Saikia Garg, along with her sister-in-law and uncle. The singer was in Singapore for the North East India Festival, where he was scheduled to perform on September 20th.

Garima Saikia has disputed initial reports, clarifying that the incident did not involve a scuba diving accident and occurred while he was swimming with friends. Despite the official findings of drowning in both Singapore and Assam, with no evidence of wrongdoing, the family is seeking a more thorough investigation.

The family is focusing its concerns on the actions of Jubin Garg’s manager, Siddhartha Sharma, and the North East Festival organizer, Shyamkanu Mahanta, accusing them of negligence. A named complaint has been filed, which also includes information about other individuals involved in the Singapore trip.

The family has formally requested a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding the singer’s death. Authorities have accepted the complaint, and the CID is expected to begin its investigation soon.

According to sources, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) is actively investigating. The SIT has issued summons to the festival organizer and Garg’s manager, requesting their cooperation by October 6th. Additionally, a dozen other individuals from Assam who were present on the yacht with Garg have also been summoned. The Chief Minister of Assam has confirmed the summons, which were delivered through the Indian Embassy in Singapore, and confirmed that lookout notices through Interpol have been issued to prevent Sharma and Mahanta from fleeing the country.

Jubin Garg, a 52-year-old singer, tragically died after drowning while swimming in Singapore. The event occurred during the North East India Festival, and the cause of his death is currently under investigation.
