    Kannauj Cow Milk Plant Preparations have intensified to restart the state-of-the-art cow milk plant built at a cost of Rs 141 crore in Kannauj. The responsibility of this plant, which was closed for a long time, has now been handed over to the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) of Gujarat. This decision will not only be beneficial for the farmers but will also provide employment opportunities to the youth of the area.


    Kannauj’s Cow Milk Plant: Journey from closure to reopening

    This state-of-the-art plant was built in 2018 on 8 acres of land in Kannauj. Its total cost is approximately Rs 141 crore. The plant was built with the capacity to produce dairy products and store 1 lakh liters of milk per day.
    However, this plant was closed in 2022 due to budget constraints. Now the state government has decided to give it on lease to the National Dairy Development Board for 10 years. During this period, the products and packing manufactured in the plant ‘pollen’ The brand name will remain intact.


    New opportunities for farmers and youth

    After the resumption of this plant, farmers will not need to wander here and there to sell milk.

    1. Large consumption of milk: For the consumption of 1 lakh liters of milk per day, milk will also be purchased from nearby districts like Mathura, Firozabad, Aligarh, Etawah, Kanpur, Farrukhabad etc.
    2. Increase in farmers’ income: Small and big farmers will get a chance to connect directly with the plant.
    3. Employment Opportunities: Local youth will get jobs in plant operation and other activities.

    Important step of National Dairy Development Board

    National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) has years of experience in working in the dairy sector. Due to the experience and expertise of this institute, there will be less chances of any problem in the operation of the plant.
    Plant General Manager Umarda said that talks with the board are in the final stages and the contract will be signed soon.

    The impact of this plant will not be limited to Kannauj only. Farmers of districts like Mathura, Shahjahanpur, Barabanki, Bareilly, Auraiya, and Hamirpur will also be able to take advantage of this. They will be able to get certainty and fair price in selling milk.

    Expansion of Milk Production:

    • This plant will create a strong network for milk collection and processing.
    • Small farmers, who used to struggle to sell their produce, will now be able to access a sustainable market.
