The Supreme Court is now involved in a case involving the upcoming Kamal Haasan film, ‘Thug Life.’ The film’s production team has approached the court, citing the Karnataka government’s alleged failure to act against threats received after Haasan made comments about the Kannada language during the audio launch. These remarks caused controversy and led to demands for the film to be banned. The team claims that no FIRs were filed, and no action was taken by the state government despite open threats of violence, including attacks on Tamil speakers. They argue this inaction infringes on their right to free speech as per the Constitution. The Supreme Court has asked the Karnataka government to respond to the claims. Haasan has also issued a statement, explaining that his words were intended to express unity and were taken out of context.
