Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has reported that the threat posed by terrorism in the Kashmir Valley has been largely neutralized. Speaking to the Indian Chamber of Commerce in Srinagar, he discussed the changing situation, mentioning that the fear of terrorism and its networks is nearing its end. Sinha indicated that only one local youth has been confirmed to have joined a terrorist organization this year. He highlighted the improvements across the region, with increased investment observed even in districts like Anantnag and Pulwama. In Pulwama, there’s a noticeable rise in industrial activities, surpassing the levels seen in Srinagar. Sinha shared that young people actively participated in the Tiranga campaign rallies in Pulwama, showcasing their unity against terrorists. He noted that youth from previously inaccessible villages are now actively involved. He also pointed out the change in the atmosphere of Lal Chowk, which is now lively even during the late hours. Furthermore, he added that the recruitment of terrorists is down to almost zero at the local level. Sinha mentioned that the strong protests following the April 22nd attack in Pahalgam, which included a week-long condemnation of terrorism and Pakistan by locals, signaled a major shift in the mindset of Kashmiris, indicating the support of the entire nation behind the changes in the valley.
