Militants launched a deadly pre-dawn raid on a police outpost in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, claiming one life and wounding three in Bajaur district’s Barang tehsil. The attack hit the Kohi Sar hilly terrain around 2 AM, as per local reports.

A 60-year-old resident, Naseem Gul, was killed, while injuries befell two constables—Suleman Khan (35) and Saj Mohammad (58)—plus 28-year-old watchman Sahibzada. All received treatment at Khar District Headquarters Hospital and are out of danger.

Spokesperson Israr Khan told Dawn that perpetrators employed light arms alongside heavy weaponry. Security personnel arrived promptly, initiating area clearance and search ops to neutralize threats.

PIPS statistics from Islamabad paint a grim picture: 2025 witnessed 34% more terror attacks and 21% higher fatalities than 2024, with 699 strikes killing 1,034 and injuring 1,366 across Pakistan.

Echoing this violence, five policemen died last month in Karak when gunmen attacked their van on gas company duty, burning it afterward. DPO Saud Khan shared insights with Express Tribune.

Such assaults on police in frontier provinces Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan reflect a surge in targeted militancy.
