The forthcoming Kia Syros EV was recently spotted during testing in India, marking the first instance of its public appearance in the country. The vehicle was seen at a charging station located in Kochi, where its design was partially concealed by camouflage. Despite the disguise, certain design elements were discernible, including the window line, roof rails, pillars, shark fin antenna, and body-colored ORVMs. These features closely mirror those of the internal combustion engine (ICE) model.

Subtle design modifications are anticipated for the EV, which may encompass changes to the grille and the addition of a charging port at the front. The electric SUV could also include EV badging on the exterior, along with green brake calipers, as observed in previous test vehicles. The dimensions of this compact electric SUV are likely to remain consistent.

Interior alterations are also expected. The Kia Syros EV might feature new trim and upholstery, along with an instrument cluster equipped with EV-specific software. The features available in the vehicle are expected to be similar to those in its ICE-powered version, potentially making it a leading option in terms of features and space within its segment.

Details regarding the Syros EV’s battery pack are currently undisclosed. However, it is rumored that it may share its powertrain with the Hyundai Exter EV, which is scheduled for launch in India in 2026. Globally, the Exter EV is available with two NMC battery pack options: 42kWh and 49kWh, capable of delivering ranges of 300 km and 355 km, respectively.

When launched, the Kia Syros EV is poised to compete with models such as the MG ZS EV and Tata Punch EV. It is expected to be one of the most affordable electric vehicles in India, with an estimated starting price of approximately ₹14 lakh for the base variant and potentially reaching ₹20 lakh for the top-end trim. Currently, the Carens Clavis EV is Kia’s most affordable electric SUV in India, priced between ₹17.99 lakh and ₹24.49 lakh (ex-showroom).
