On Friday night in Kolhapur, Maharashtra, a dispute between two groups turned violent, leading to clashes. Both sides engaged in stone-pelting and damaged multiple vehicles. Police arrived at the scene and quickly brought the situation under control, subsequently deploying a large police presence to maintain order. The unrest resulted in injuries to four police personnel.

In the Siddharthnagar area, an agitated crowd set fire to a tempo and a car, and vandalized a number of other vehicles. Reports indicate that the initial tension arose over the removal of a stage that was erected near the Siddharthnagar command for the Rajebagswar Football Club’s anniversary celebration. This disagreement led to the violent clashes and stone-pelting between the groups.

The police have managed to restore order. Despite the efforts, the environment remained strained until late at night, but it has since calmed. Police and the State Reserve Police Force (SRPF) have been stationed throughout Siddharthnagar.

SP Yogesh Kumar reported that the conflict involved two communities, triggered by a misunderstanding. These communities have now been separated, and the situation is under control. Further action will be taken. The preliminary information suggests the tension started during a community event. He requested that people from both communities ignore and not share any fake or misleading viral messages.

The police are working to identify the individuals responsible for the unrest that occurred the previous night. They are examining CCTV footage and gathering witness statements to determine the appropriate course of action against those involved.

In response to the incident, the police have urged citizens to disregard rumors and to avoid spreading any inflammatory content on social media. The administration has increased police presence in the area.
