    Raipur. A candle march was taken out on Friday from Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College campus to Telibandha Chowpatty to demand punishment for the culprits of the heinous murder case of a female junior doctor in Kolkata Medical College and a central security law.

    The Indian Medical Association (IMA), FAGSI, Junior Doctors Association, Indian Dental Association, Chhattisgarh Nursing Staff Association, Indian Physiotherapist Association, Pharmacist Association, Medical Representative Organization, medical college student organizations, representatives of social organizations, senior doctors, Junior Doctors Association and paramedical organizations participated in the candle march.

    Indian Medical Association Raipur President Dr. Rakesh Gupta and Dr. Digvijay Singh said that before the rally started, the representative of the district administration was addressed through the Governor to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda and a demand was made for a central security law for doctors and all health workers on duty in hospital premises. A resolution has also been taken in the rally to make the Anti-Hospital Premises Violence Act effective in Chhattisgarh.

    Dr. Gupta said that on the call of the national leadership of the Indian Medical Association, OPD services will be closed in protest from 6 am on Saturday to 6 am on Sunday across the country. It has been decided to keep all medical services closed except emergency services.
