Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has voiced strong criticism against the Shiv Sena (UBT) amid the ongoing language controversy. Shinde accused the party of employing ‘double-faced’ tactics. He referenced their past actions regarding language policies. He stated that those who behave in this manner should not demand the resignation of Minister Dada Bhuse. He pointed out that when in power, the party had supported the teaching of three languages – Marathi, English, and Hindi, as recommended by the Raghunath Mashelkar Committee. The statement follows Aaditya Thackeray’s criticism of the government’s stance and his call for Dada Bhuse’s resignation. Thackeray argued against forcing any language on students. NCP chief Sharad Pawar weighed in, saying that while Hindi is widely spoken, it should not be compulsory at the primary level. He emphasized the need to consider the linguistic burden on young learners.
